The House of Representatives, on Thursday, established a
23-man committee to study the proposed restructuring of Federal Government
agencies in line with the Stephen Oronsaye report.
The full implementation of the report would include
streamlining government agencies, scraping some agencies and merging those with
similar responsibilities.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen while inaugurating the committee,
charged it to examine the recommendations of the executive arm of government
and advise the House accordingly.
He said, “The committee to be headed by the House Leader
Prof. Julius Ihonvbare would also advise on the appropriate steps to
accommodate those that are likely to be affected by the restructuring.”
The committee would also recommend appropriate measures to
reduce the likely outcome of the exercise as well as possible laws to
accommodate the exercise.
Members of the 23-man committee include Kabiru Tukura, Sani
Umar, Fatima Talba, Aliyu Abdullahi, Igariwey Iduma, Yusuf Miga, Olumide Osoba,
