Peter Obi could have been my running mate if he joined NNPP– Kwankwaso

  Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano, says Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, could have become his running mate if the latter had joined the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).   Kwankwaso spoke on Monday in an interview on Channels Television.   On May 27, Obi joined the Labour Party hours after announcing the resignation of his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).   Before the former governor joined the LP, there were speculations that Obi may form an alliance with Kwankwaso in the NNPP to contest the presidency.   On Monday, Obi was elected the presidential candidate of the LP after three other aspirants stepped down for him.   On the other hand, Kwankwaso is the only presidential aspirant in NNPP.   Asked if there Obi was approached on joining NNPP, Kwankwaso said he discussed national issues with the former Anambra governor a few days before he joined LP.    “Well, actually, we had the opportunity to talk to ourselves on many national issues until a few days to the time when he declared for the Labour Party of which now he is the presidential candidate,” he said.   “I wish him well and I wish all other presidential candidates well. I’m sure this (presidential election) will be decided by the people across the country who are going to vote on 25th February 2023.”   Asked if he would have considered Peter Obi as his running mate, the former Kano governor said many people suggested the idea.   “Many people just suggested that. I believe that it could have been possible if not because he joined another party. Now, he is already a candidate as we have seen from the news now. We look forward to seeing what happens in the next few weeks,” he added.

Don’t accept Wike’s satanic, deceptive financial bribe – IPOB warns Imo communities against ceding

  The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has warned the people of Ohaji Local Government Area of Imo State against ceding their land to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.   IPOB cautioned the people of Ohaji against accepting Wike’s alleged satanic and deceptive financial inducement.   Emma Powerful, the spokesman of IPOB, issued the warning in reaction to an alleged illegal and undocumented ceding of communities in Ohaji Local Government Area to Wike.   Powerful warned that ceding their communities to Wike would affect their children’s future; hence such a deceptive move should be rejected.   He urged the communities to treat whoever is persuading them to change their state of origin as a criminal.   Powerful noted that accepting to change their state of origin for the sake of N150,000 monthly is evil.   A statement by Powerful reads partly: “Following an illegal undocumented treaty to cede communities of Ohaji Egbema LGA from Imo State to Rivers State via a crooked financial inducement by current Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.   “We the global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU wish to warn that such project is called to a halt to avert inevitable consequences.   “We suggest to the communities that fall into this deceptive venture masterminded by Nyesom Wike to retrace their steps, considering that this singular act could attract futuristic destructive effects.   “IPOB was intimated with the information regarding Governor Wike’s plan, which includes conditional future promises and haven gone through these moves realized that Wike will abandon them in future because governor Wike cannot be in charge of Rivers State beyond his tenor as a current Governor.   “It is a known fact that the Imo State government failed in their obligations as it concerns the predicaments they are facing in that area, but they must forget Wike with his satanic offer. Wike’s deceptive offer would harm them and their children in the future as such may not be sustainable by successive governments. Moreover, the Biafra restoration approaches hastily.   “IPOB is advising them to retrace their steps and watch what God Almighty has in stock for them; changing God Almighty’s plans for children will harm the communities in the future, for God to have placed you where you are today does not mean that he has abandoned you.   “The communities or anybody persuading them to change their State of origin identity and be acquired like slaves with cash value of N150 (One Hundred and Fifty Naira Only) is evil and must be treated as criminal because we don’t see where old men and women, youths and educated people would allow such an undocumented territorial treaty due to hunger and abandonment.”

Federal High Court turns back Okorocha’s ‘political crowd’ ahead bail battle

Political associates, friends and sympathizers of detained former Imo State Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha are being turned back at the entrance gate of the Federal High Court in Abuja as part of crowd control mechanisms. The sympathizers, who thronged the court premises as early as 7am, are in their hundreds struggling to access the court to witness proceedings. Okorocha, who has just been moved to the court room by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is billed to battle today for his bail in the N2.9B corruption charges brought against him by the Federal Government. His plea of not guilty was taken on Monday before Justice Inyang Ekwo who thereafter fixed today for arguments for and against his bail request. At the time of this report, the gate of the court had been firmly locked against the crowd which kept on surging upon the arrival of the former governor to the court. Although, no official statement from the court yet, it was reliably gathered that the private security men at the gate took the decision to avoid implosion in the court room. Already, the court room has been filled to the brim, while several others are loitering around the court room. It was also gathered that as a proactive measure, Okorocha himself has mobilized some highly placed persons comprising Senators, house owners in Abuja and top government functionaries to court to surety him if admitted to bail. The five Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs, engaged for defence by the embattled former governor are already putting their heads together on how to marshall arguments for the bail of their client.

Nollywood actor Osmond Gbadebo is dead

  Nollywood actors are mourning as one of their colleagues, Osmond Gbadebo passed away on Monday.   His death was announced by veteran actress, Fausat Balogun aka Madam Saje on her Instagram page.   She revealed that the filmmaker and actor died at about 4:00 am.   Although there was no mention of the cause of death, many actors dropped comments on Saje’s page mourning the deceased.   Bimbo Success wrote; “So sad Osmond Gbadebo, may your gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace!!! Ile aiye, Ile aisan vanity upon vanity”   Another actress Bakare Zainab wrote: Osmond Osmond Osmond why??? I saved all these videos to celebrate your birthday and your daughter’s birth, but you asked me not to post them. Osmond, why did you leave that 2-week-old child?   “Why did you do this to your loved ones? Why did you die??? May!! Your birth month, your child’s birth month, now your death month, ahhh may God be pleased with your soul. This broke me to pieces, Po”.   Confirming the time of death, Afeez Owo wrote: “It was early morning at four when death knocked upon your bedroom door. Iku lopin irin Ajo eda late”.   “I was with You Four days ago, This is so Sad”, actress Laide Bakare also wrote, posting a video and photo of their meeting.   Gbadebo, who died in his forties, was famous for movies such as Ewon Ife, Queen Lateefat, Edunjobi, Hired Killer and many others.

2023: You can’t be President – Primate Ayodele tells Peter Obi

  The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, on Monday, warned a South-East presidential hopeful, Peter Obi against his presidential ambition.   Primate Ayodele disclosed that Obi cannot contest the presidential election and win, hence he should resign from politics or help suffering Nigerians with his resources.   In a statement by his Media Aide, Oluwatosin Osho, the cleric attested to Obi’s leadership qualities, but noted that he doesn’t have the backing of God for the presidential election, coupled with the fact that he was misled into joining another party to pursue his ambition.   He also mentioned that South-East leaders have successfully jeopardized the chances of the zone in the 2023 presidential ambition.   Ayodele noted that the coming generation will remember their actions and curse them for bringing such a predicament to the zone.   “There is no way Peter Obi can contest and win, it’s either he resigns from politics or wastes his money. Better still, he should help Nigerians that are suffering with his resources.   “He was misled into joining the Labour Party to pursue his presidential ambition; he has missed it, Igbos have missed it already, their generations to come will remember this and curse them.   “The South-East political leaders have successfully jeopardized the chances of the Igbos and turned the zone to something else.   “Igbo have no leaders; they don’t like themselves at all, Peter Obi is a fantastic leader, but he cannot become the next president of Nigeria, any party that gives him ticket will be a waste of time.”   Primate Ayodele had warned the South-East leaders not to allow the presidency elude them in 2023 because of their selfish interests and betrayal.   He had noted that for peace to reign, the South-East deserves to produce a president but if the leaders are not careful, they will miss it.

BREAKING: Gunmen attack broadcast station in Anambra, burn vehicles, building

  Unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Monday, invaded the premises of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Awada, Onitsha station.   The gunmen believed to be part of those terrorising the State for over a year burnt a building, a company bus, and another vehicle parked in the premises belonging to a staff who had worked overnight.   It was gathered that no life was lost in the attack, but the gunmen brutalised the staff they met in the premises, inflicting injuries on them.   As of the time of filling this report, a staff who begged for anonymity, said they were being interrogated by security agents over the attack.   He promised to give a full detail of the attack on them by the gunmen, as he had worked all night, and witnessed the attack.   Anambra Broadcasting Service, a State government-owned company has been giving support to the State government on its fight against rampaging gunmen.
