NUJ asks Makinde, security agencies to tackle kidnapping in Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies in the state to deploy more operatives to the Ogbomoso and Oke Ogun areas of the state.

The union noted that this is necessary in order to tackle the menace of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the areas.

NUJ made the call in a communique issued at the end of its monthly congress held on Wednesday.

The communique was made available to newsmen on Thursday by the NUJ Secretary, Comrade Olusola Oladapo.

There are five local government areas in Ogbomoso, and ten in Oke Ogun.

The union, in the communique, appealed to Makinde and security agencies in the state to urgently deploy operatives to the areas.

The Oyo NUJ Council also urged the governor to address the issue of overpopulation in most of the public secondary schools in the state.

“The Council urgently appeal to the Oyo State government and security agencies to reinforce security in Ogbomoso and Oke-Ogun areas to prevent kidnappings and ensure safety.

“Appeal to the Governor to address overpopulation and insufficient teachers in some secondary schools by making the learning environment more conducive, while lauding the recent plan to employ 7,000 additional teachers in primary schools,” parts of the communique read.
