Two killed in farmers-herdsmen clashes in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has said that at least two persons were killed in two different clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the state. Spokesman of the command, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed this in a statement issued to newsmen. He said the incident occurred in Taura and Malam-Madori local government areas. According to the statement, “On 23/12/2021 at about 1330hrs the village head of Tofa in Taura Local Government Area reported to police that there was a clash between a farmer and a herdsman in his village. “As a result, a 21-year-old Shu’aibu Nasiru of Tofa village was stabbed with a sharp object suspected to be a knife on his left chest in his farmland and died instantly.” He said a police team was mobilized to the scene, the corpse was taken to General Hospital Ringim for medical examination and was confirmed dead while two persons were arrested. Meanwhile, Adam also revealed that another incident happened at Gandun Galadima in the Malam Local Government Area. He said as a result of the incident, five persons sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to Hadejia General Hospital for medical attention. He added that a 30-year-old Yakubu Saleh of Gandun Sarki was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the hospital. The spokesman said five suspects were arrested in connection to the case. He added that they would be charged to court when investigation is concluded.
