Real Madrid confirms Benzema is leaving
Real Madrid have announced their captain, Karim Benzema, is leaving the club.
Benzema has decided to leave the LaLiga giants after 14 years.
The 35-year-old is now expected to join Al-Ittihad in a lucrative deal.
“Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to put an end to his brilliant and unforgettable era as a player at our club,” Real Madrid said in a statement.
“Madrid wants to show their gratitude and all their love to someone who is one of our greatest legends.”
This confirmation comes after manager Carlo Ancelotti insisted on Saturday there was “no doubt” about Benzema’s future at Madrid, noting the forward had one more year left on his contract.
